As We Are - Michael R. Oldham
Recorded at Chroma’s debut concert on November 15, 2025, at the Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, this performance features As We Are by Michael R. Oldham, commissioned by Hearing in Color for Chroma. Written when Chroma was still a seedling of an idea, As We Are sets words drawn from Reverend Marianne Budde’s January 2025 address in Washington, D.C., offering a powerful reflection on humanity, compassion, and unity.
The piece is a call to see one another fully—as humans deserving of dignity, mercy, understanding, and love—especially in moments of fear, division, and uncertainty. Through this commission, Chroma affirms its commitment to new works that respond directly to our time, using choral music as a space for reflection, healing, and collective hope.
